The current fire levy is a 3.25 mil property tax. This is a 5-year levy which became effective for the 2017 tax year and was renewed at the November 2, 2021 general election for 5 more years (2022-2026).
The levy supports the purchase and maintenance of fire apparatus, mechanical resuscitators, underwater rescue & recovery equipment, or other fire equipment & building & sites therefor, for the payment of firefighting companies or permanent, part-time or volunteer firefighting, emergency medical service, including the payment of ambulance equipment, for the provision of ambulance, paramedic or other EMS by the fire department.
The Township Trustees currently contract with the Central Ohio Joint Fire District (COJFD) to provide local fire and emergency medical services.
The Morrow County Commissioners provide additional EMS coverage in South Bloomfield Township. South Bloomfield Township and Sparta property owners contribute approximately $78,868 annually to Morrow County for EMS through property taxes.
The current County EMS levy is a 2 mil property tax.
