We invite you to participate in community clean-up day on Saturday, May 15, 2021 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
Dumpsters will be available at Highland Park District 6380 State Route 229 (west of pond) for township & village residents to utilize free of charge.
The following items will be accepted:
- Trash, scrap, metal & appliances.
- Up to four (4) tires, up to 20 inches.
- Tires must be off the rim.
- Bagged yard waste including grass clippings & leaves.
- Small shrubs and tree limbs up to 10 inches in diameter.
Zoning and state statutes prohibit the accumulation of outdoor trash, junk, debris and other unsightly items. The Zoning Resolution can be downloaded under the zoning tab at the top of this page. Standards prohibiting junk accumulation can be found under Section 935 on page 46, regulations about junk vehicles can be found in Section 955 on page 47, along with Section 980 on page 54, which also addresses nuisance vegetation. Additional standards are found in the Ohio Revised Code Section 505.87 Lawriter - ORC (ohio.gov) and 505.871 Lawriter - ORC (ohio.gov).
NOTICE: There will be enforcement action taken after May 31, 2021 for any blatant violations of the township and/or village ordinances.

The Board generally meets at 7:30 p.m. on the second Wednesday of the month at the Sparta Wastewater Treatment Facility, located at 6605 State Route 229, Sparta, Ohio 43350.
The Zoning Commission, Tom Clark (Chairman), Clay Hilton (Vice Chairman), Chris Barnett (Secretary), Jay Coe and Harlan Wilson are appointed resident volunteers focused on reviewing and making recommendations regarding zoning code and map amendments.
The Board of Zoning Appeals, Dan Dupler, Joe Erb, Lewis Kinney, Donna Ufferman and Hope Messmer are appointed resident volunteers focused on deciding zoning appeals, conditional uses and variances.
